A model region for year-round climate-neutral energy supply and use of natural gas without CO2 emissions
Climate protection and security of supply, as well as the development of energy solutions for regions and metropolitan areas, are at the heart of the RAG Valley project and model region in Krift near Kremsmünster.
The focus is on the interaction of energy production, conversion, storage and utilisation, as well as the use of important raw materials. Solar power generated during the summer is converted into hydrogen, making it storable for later use in heat and electricity generation during the winter months.
This creates a centre for integrated energy and storage solutions in Upper Austria. The technologies being developed and demonstrated there can contribute to a secure year-round energy supply and provide valuable insights for future applications in metropolitan areas such as Vienna, Graz and Linz.
Another advantage of the „RAG Valley“ in Krift: Added value creation remains in the Region and the business location is strengthened.
