In Bavaria, Rohöl Aufsuchungs AG (RAG) holds two concessions, „Salzach-Inn“ and „Chiemgau“ for the exploration of hydrocarbons. RAG aims to use its new discoveries for establishing commercial production in the area. For this purpose, RAG has developed a wide range of drilling projects from which RAG (Chiemgau concession) and RAG, in cooperation with its partner company Bayerngas (Salzach-Inn concession), currently drills 1-2 wells per year. Additionally, a number of supporting seismic surveys as well as geoscience and reservoir engineering investigations are conducted to reduce the risk associated with the drilling projects and, moreover, to determine if further hydrocarbon potential could exist in reservoir not yet tested (Plays). Also, RAG has launched an ambitious programme to tap the significant geothermal potential in Bavaria.
