Bavaria

In Bavaria, Rohöl Aufsuchungs AG (RAG) holds two concessions, „Salzach-Inn“ and „Chiemgau“ for the exploration of hydrocarbons. The objective RAG pursues there is to establish economically viable production with new finds, conducting targeted exploration by starting new seismic surveys and drilling exploration wells.

In the past two years, RAG prepared a broad portfolio of drilling projects, under which several wells will be drilled every year together with partner companies Bayerngas GmbH (Salzach-Inn) and Wintershall Holding AG (Chiemgau) from 2009 on. Additionally, several supporting seismic surveys and geoscience and reservoir engineering studies will be conducted to reduce the risk involved in the planned drilling projects and to clarify whether or not further hydrocarbon potentials exist in reservoir types not yet tested (plays). RAG also participates in an ambitious programme to explore the geothermal potential in Bavaria.
