For many years, RAG has successfully operated its very own drilling rigs. Up to the year 2005 those rigs drilled an average 10 to 12 wells per year removing almost 1,200 m³ of rock and drilling up to 20.000 m. From 2005 onwards drilling activities were intensified resulting in almost 50.000 drilled meters per year up to the year 2009.

Since its foundation, RAG has drilled around 150 wells in Lower Austria, some 800 in Upper Austria, 20 in Salzburg, 15 in Styria, and 4 in Bavaria. Included are geothermal energy projects of Fürstenfeld as well as the transnational projects in Simbach (Bavaria) and Braunau (Upper Austria). Some of the thermal water resorts in Styria (Loipersdorf, Blumau and Bad Waltersdorf) are the result of RAG´s drilling activities.

The use of state-of-the-art technology and highly qualified staff make sure that high quality standards, safe working procedures, and environmental awareness and protection are continuously improved.
